Kim Jung Gi, without a doubt, is my favorite artist from South Korea, if not the entire world. His ability to work from memory is nearly super-human, as you'll note from his sketchbook drawings below; in which nearly no references were used. His seasoned photographic memory is almost as impressive as the confidence he shows with his mark making. Bouguereau was a French painter in the late 1800s who received much praise and criticism. He was mostly criticized by modern impressionists for his technique (specifically, his excessive use of a badger blender; showing no paint strokes) as well as his tired, traditional subject matter. However, his paintings were indeed very impressive, and his ability to manipulate paint captured a lot of praise and attention.
